Distros should get better.
I did all below with VirtualBox on a Fedora28 host.

About 2 minutes to boot into the install screen.

Ubuntu 18.04 compared to Ubuntu 10.04 is VERY slow.
I killed some processes to see if I could lighten
it. It stayed slow.

It is not usable on 1GB of ram.
About a typical number of processes for
a Linux distro around a 140 to 160.
Ubuntu 18.04 had 151 processes.

No easy way to add items to your panel.
You have to click on Activities to see
your desktops.

No tables for iptables. So if you decide
to use it, install something that will
manage your firewall tables or put some in.

Ubuntu 18.04 reminds me of our Asus Eee
Surf. We personally like Debian XFCE and
Fedora XFCE. I do not like Fedora's
package management system compared to Debian.
Plus Fedora swamps you with updates! Video
on Fedora is absent. You will have to do some
work to get video. Some packages that are on
Debian are either absent or renamed on Fedora.

The holy grail of Linux systems should be security,
speed and configurability.

I like very much this distro, but new version (4.7) don't allows install with less than of 1 gb ram, even with light desktops such LXQT; XFCE, etc., so I can't install on my old laptop with 640 mb ram.

After installation I launched entropy to make the necessary updates.... 5 hours passed and it was still in installation progress. I love Gentoo meme and I really liked the idea of sabayon but unfortunately it didn't work well for me. :(
Wszędzie dobrze, ale w /home najlepiej

Really don't understand the hype over Ubuntu. It's one of the worst distributions around, and has always been so. They're the Microsoft of the Linux world. They do strange things and are out of touch with the rest of the community. They assume the user is an idiot (just like Microsoft does nowadays). Using sudo is like using a crutch- when you need full control you're left with bizarre workarounds. While this is good for the noob, it takes control away from the experienced. Their support forums are populated with "my way or the highway" kind arrogant of people who believe Ubuntu's design philosophy is the best and anyone who's trying to do something different should die. Almost everything about this distribution sucks, including the name "Ubuntu".

They have one thing going for them though, their long support periods. You install once and you get support for like 3 years without having to do a distribution upgrade. Other than that, nothing else. The notion that Ubuntu is the best for beginners is flawed. Beginners should actually avoid Ubuntu and try something that doesn't assume they are idiots. If that's what the user wants, he might as well keep using Windows 10.

If you're a beginner and thinking of Ubuntu (or one of it's official cousins), please avoid the temptation. Try Manjaro, or even openSuse. Manjaro and openSuse doesn't assume you're a no-brain donkey. They give you more control, they have great support forums with highly experienced people, and they are very stable (openSuse is the undisputed KING of stability). Of course with great power comes great responsibility. The amount of control these 2 distros give you can be dangerous if you take control and give destructive commands (all your commands are obeyed, even if obeying the command will be fatal for the system). So try to use auto-pilot when you can (especially in the first few months if you're a newbee), and then when you start understanding Linux, start doing things manually one little task at a time.
Wszystko ssie, nawet ładne czcionki prosto z pudełka, wygodna instalacja systemu i pakietów.
No ja bym się kłócił.
Prawdopodobnie ta druga część to wyższe zaawansowanie.

I ja takim ludziom ufałem - dwa razy!
